Qlima Split Air Conditioner

Enjoy the benefits of an air conditioner all year round? It’s possible! More and more people use an air conditioner for both cooling and heating their homes. If you have solar panels on your roof, this can be an economical way to control the climate in your home. A split-unit air conditioner consists of one or more indoor units and an outdoor unit, which are installed at fixed locations in your home. For example, one part can be placed in the living room or bedroom, while the other part is mounted outside.

How to install a split air conditioner?

If you're a bit handy, there's a good chance you can partially install a split-unit air conditioner yourself. However, you will still need a technician for at least part of the installation. This might involve the complete installation or just the final connection of the outdoor unit. By preparing much of the work yourself, you can save significantly on installation costs. It is legally required that a certified F-gas technician performs the final step. This is due to the potential for refrigerant leaks, which are harmful to the environment.

How to choose the best split air conditioner?

There are various models of split air conditioners to choose from. How do you select the best one for your situation?

  • Do you have a smaller space (up to 85 m³) that you want to cool and heat energy-efficiently? This is possible with the pre-filled SC 6026 split-unit air conditioner, thanks to its built-in heat pump. The maximum distance between the indoor and outdoor units for this model is 4 meters, so keep that in mind. This split air conditioner also dehumidifies and operates quietly, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable indoor climate undisturbed. If you have a larger space, a model with more capacity might better meet your needs, such as the S 6035 (100 m³) or SC 6053 (145 m³).
  • Want to enjoy a pleasant indoor climate in multiple rooms in your home? Take a look at a dual-split air conditioner or a multi-split air conditioner. With the SCM 52 DUO split air conditioner, you can regulate the temperature in two different rooms using just one outdoor unit. This not only saves on the cost of two air conditioners but also creates a cleaner outdoor appearance with only one outdoor unit. The indoor units can operate independently, so you only use what you need.
  • Did you know we also offer a special split air conditioner for your camper, caravan, boat, or garden house? This is the mini split air conditioner MS-AC 5001. Attach the mounting brackets and hang the outdoor unit from the window. Then place the indoor unit in a suitable location. This quickly cools small spaces up to 20 m².

The difference between S and SC model split air conditioners

Qlima offers two types of split-unit air conditioners: the S models and the SC models. S models must be fully installed by a technician. SC models can be partially installed yourself if you're somewhat handy. This is only possible if you require a piping set of 4 meters, as this is already pre-filled. If you need more than 4 meters, an SC model won’t suit your situation. Only the final connection between the indoor and outdoor units must be performed by a professional.

Split air conditioner or portable air conditioner?

Are you unsure whether to buy a split-unit air conditioner or a portable air conditioner? It depends on the results you expect. A split unit has several advantages over a portable air conditioner. For instance, the air is cooled faster and more efficiently, as this type of air conditioner consumes less energy and is specifically designed for cooling larger spaces. This is due to its higher capacity compared to portable air conditioners. The efficient heating capabilities of the split air conditioner are also a significant advantage. Especially if you use solar energy, heating with a split air conditioner is economical and much cheaper than central heating! A portable air conditioner, on the other hand, has the advantage of being easy to move and having a lower purchase price. Plus, no installation is required.
