“We want to be part of the circular economy”

"It took years of persuasion and teamwork to achieve considerable reduction in packaging waste. I really wonder which impressive changes we'll be introducing over the next five years. We have a wealth of ideas and want to be part of the circular economy".

Reducing Impact

At Qlima, we understand that sustainability isn't just about what’s inside. It’s also about how it’s delivered. That’s why our greatest strides in recent years have focused on more sustainable packaging solutions. By reducing plastic use, introducing recyclable materials, and improving packaging efficiency, we’re minimizing environmental impact while continuing to offer high-quality fuel. Cleaner packaging, same trusted performance.

And we’re not stopping there. With the introduction of a partly non-fossil fuel, we’re taking the first concrete steps toward reducing the carbon intensity of our product itself - fueling homes more responsibly, one innovation at a time.

First steps

The fuel filling facility for fuel-powered heaters in Ghent has been investing in sustainable packaging and clean fuel. We started by replacing the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in our packaging with the more easily recyclable PET.

Introduction plant-based fuel

We developed a fuel that comprises up to 5% plant-based components: Hybrid. We were the first company on the market to produce such fuel.

Blowing preforms

We have transitioned from receiving ready-made cans to using preforms, which we blow into cans in our own factory. This change significantly reduces the transport of air, leading to a more sustainable production process. By minimizing transport needs, we are taking a major step towards reducing our carbon footprint.

60% lighter jerrycans

Since 2012 we've been gradually reducing the amout of PET per jerrycan. All improvements have resulted in a 20-litre jerrycan that is 60% lighter than the HDPE cans of 20 years ago.

The cans are also stackable which is convenient during transport and in stores.

15 million kilos less plastic

Reducing plastic in our packaging is an important ESG priority. We've taken many steps towards this the pas years. So many that we have even received a Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label from Bertrand Piccard's Solar Impulse foundation. The label is a true mark of quality and PVG is the only company in the sector to carry this label.

Next generation fuels

Qlima became the first to launch two stove fuels containing 25% (Qlima Spark) and 51% natural raw materials (Qlima Bright), respectively, in line with the ISCC+ (mass balance approach) standard. This marks a significant milestone in our sustainability mission.

Progress beyond the fuel

Warmth is a basic necessity for our well-being, especially during the colder months of the year. At Qlima, we understand this need and strive to provide affordable and efficient heating solutions that suit your lifestyle.

That's why Qlima invests in providing heating solutions that not only offer comfort but are also significantly less burdensome on the environment. For example, Qlima offers energy-efficient heat pumps.

Sustainability built into every decision

Sustainability at Qlima extends beyond products - it’s embedded in the way we work. From logistics and supply chain choices to our office environment and community partnerships, we’re taking active steps to reduce our footprint. By rethinking processes and investing in long-term improvements, we’re shaping a responsible and resilient organization, ready for the future.

RoHs compliancy

All our products are free from hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium. Helping to reduce environmental pollution and protect human health.

Efficient heating with split units

Qlima is investing in energy-efficient split-unit air conditioners as a sustainable alternative for home heating. These systems use significantly less energy compared to traditional heating  methods, especially in well-insulated homes.
By combining heating and cooling in one device, they offer year-round comfort with a lower environmental footprint.

New, efficient way of working

Remote working allows us to significantly reduce commuting, lowering carbon emissions and minimizing our environmental impact. By enabling flexible work arrangements, we reduce energy consumption in office spaces. This approach aligns with our commitment to a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.

Launch on online shop

Our online shop for spare parts and accessories supports our sustainability mission by extending the lifespan of our products. By offering easy access to replacements and maintenance items, we empower customers to repair rather than replace, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.

Sustainability

Qlima is committed to a sustainable future and values working together. In this way, we support you in creating a pleasant and comfortable indoor climate.

Corporate responsibility

Inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations we have determined 3 pillars of sustainability where we will focus on.
